Whichever route you took to arrive here, you are welcomed with open arms.
This Super Self-Publishing Tracker Spreadsheet is designed to complement your progress as you work through the 52-week strategy for writing, publishing, and selling your book in a year as laid out in Write, Publish, Thrive, the Self-Published Author 52-Week Planner, the Ultimate Self-Publishing Checklist, and/or any of the video series that can be found on the Clairjoyance YouTube and Substack channels.
Maybe you’re one of the many who have spent years (and years and years) writing the manuscript, editing it, editing it again (and again), and trying to find that unicorn agent or publisher who adores what you’ve created and wants to share it with the world, only to eventually give up after hearing nothing but rejections and “It shows promise, but . . .”.
Maybe you’re one of those inspiring types who has an impactful message that you know, deep down in your heart of hearts, could benefit the world around you if only you could get your ideas, experiences, and insights shared with more people.
Maybe you want to leave a legacy, maybe you want to win awards, maybe you’re one of the fearless and ambitious ones who had an idea, executed the idea, and is now looking for the most time- and cost-efficient way to get the book out there and making you money.
Whatever your motivations are for embarking on this journey, trust me when I say: you’ve come to the right place. I encourage you to take what resonates and skip what doesn’t, I’m not here to tell you that your book journey must unfold like anyone else’s – including my own. What I am here to do is to impart all of the numerous tips and tricks I’ve learned over the lifetime I’ve spent as a creative and the twenty-plus years I’ve been writing, publishing, and selling in a variety of genres. By using tracking systems like the ones included in this spreadsheet, I was able to write, publish, and start selling my debut novel in under nine months. Within 15 days of launch, it ranked in the top 100 of all Ingram Fiction Fantasy Romance titles, and, within three months, had sold in six countries. By 2023, it was stocked by bookstores across the U.S. and I’ve been able to write/publish/sell a book a year since then.
You can follow the 52-week schedule yourself, or create your own timeline. I've intentionally set up this spreadsheet to support you either way. Each tab is devoted to the necessary steps, but the exact timing is totally up to you.
First, we begin with the Project Overview so that you have a clear idea of what is going to be needed in order to make your book dream a reality. Next, the Future Self exercise will help make your goals as tangible as possible to keep you both intentional and motivated throughout. Plus, the Creative Flow habits are the self-support medikit that will keep you from burning out in the process.
The Hero's Journey is a super helpful tool for outlining character and plot development which will lead directly into your Story Arc. Then, once you dive into writing, you can track your Word Count to see how far ahead (or behind) you may be on your draft deliverables.
Ideally, you will also be working on things like websites, social media profiles, and finding your audiences while you write the first draft. Thus, the Brand Guide and Marketing Strategy tabs are designed for laying everything out in one easy-to-access place.
Once the first draft is done, Team Management comes into play as well as all of the Checklists leading up to launch.
If, at any point in this process, you are needing more guidance, advice, or troubleshooting, I am more than happy to be of assistance! I offer a wide range of options (free and paid) for all of your questions and clarifications. See below for more details.
